WordCamp Philippines Gold Sponsor: WooThemes
Written by Drew in Announcements.
It is my great honor to welcome WooThemes as this year’s Gold Sponsor for WordCamp Philippines 2010.
WooThemes was started by a trio of fine chaps residing in three different countries. Adii (in South Africa), Magnus (in Norway) and Mark (in the UK) joined forces to create one of the most well-known premium WordPress theme purveyors in existence today. They are joined by a talented team of designers, developers, ninjas and rockstars to complete their dynamic and successful company.
We all know how effortless it is to install WordPress on a server and start your own blog. As a WordPress aficionado myself, the first thing I notice is the theme. Having installed WordPress on 30+ blogs, I have to admit that one of the most grueling tasks involved is picking a design. More often that not, I’m crunched for time and end up using a free theme that is hardly updated. That was until I discovered premium WordPress themes. Have no idea what they are? Well, these are top-notch and professionally-designed themes, such as these ones produced by Woothemes. These themes are rigidly-tested, extremely well-made and user-friendly.
WooThemes’ sponsorship could not have come at a better time. Previously, this blog was using a theme that was difficult to customize. On top of their sponsorship, WooThemes generously offered one of their themes for our site! We chose the Therapy theme because it went well with the traditional WordPress colors.
WooThemes offers club memberships for bloggers and developers ranging from $125 to $200. These are only startup fees after which you only have to pay $15-$20 per month. A club membership gives you access to all of their 74 themes (and counting) and the privilege to use them for an unlimited number of domains. Moreover, two new themes are added to your membership every month while existing ones are updated constantly.
Visit WooThemes now and see how you can benefit from their extensive portfolio of Premium WordPress Themes.
Avatar Media would like to thank WooThemes for sponsoring WordCamp Philippines 2010!

Just my 2 cents – I liked the previous theme better. I’ve used it before and I don’t agree that it’s difficult to customize.
But well, it’s your choice and woothemes is one of your sponsor
@Ronald: Hi, I didn’t say the previous theme didn’t look good did I?
Me neither. I was talking about the difficulty of customization as you mentioned on which I disagreed.
Hi, Ronald. Every theme has its own merits and we all have our own preferences.
In terms of customization, the previous theme had limited space for navigation items. If you noticed, we had to remove some of the items in the navigation before to add other items (Campers Wall, Central Microsite, etc.)
The decision to shift to a new theme was based on two reasons:
1. The old theme could no longer meet the needs of the site (i.e. Add more pages or items to the nav bar like Program, Speaker Profiles, etc.)
2. With WooThemes on board as sponsor, we had access to a theme that was more suited to our needs.
For your own site/blog needs, the previous theme could be sufficient. For us, however, it had reached its maximum usefulness.
Bottomline, the choice largely depends on site needs. We can’t please everybody (we received complaints that text was difficult to read in the old theme) but we listen to everyone which is why we took time to respond to your comment.
As I’ve mentioned it’s just my 2 cents and I understand that it’s you call
Yes, it’s your opinion and I believe we’re also entitled to express ours?
My response was just to explain why it was difficult for us to customize the old theme.
Like I said, we listen to everyone which is why we respond to comments such as yours.
By the way, are you a registered camper? I don’t see your name on the attendee list. If you missed registration, WooThemes will be sponsoring FREE tickets to WordCamp. You might want to watch out for that.
hi lyle.. as you mentioned Woothemes will be sponsoring free tickets to wordcamp.. is this plane ticket to wordcamp? if so, meron pa ba? ^_^
It’s ticket to the event not plane tickets. The ticket giveaway contest will be announced soon.
